Welcome to the pages of earthlight! This publication
has been many years in the making, if you count the time that
Nancy and I have been following our spiritual paths. We are grateful
for the opportunity to serve a community of holistic-minded readers
and businesses.
As the new millenium approaches, it is clear that many
of our economic and political structures are changing. We believe
these changes are merely the outward signs of inner, personal
transformation. For example, traditionally the top considerations
in seeking employment were job security, benefits, and high salary.
For various reasons many of us have re-prioritized, and are now
more concerned with quality of life, wellness, and spending time
with our families. If economic and political structures do not
change to accomodate these new priorities, they will crumble and
fall. We have seen such decline elsewhere, in other countries,
where those in power cling desperately to the old ways. But change
is not only healthy and good, it is inevitable.
In our premier issue, we are pleased to present an interview
with Alan Cohen, one
of many popular inspirational authors of our time. Joan
Borysenko reminds us to appreciate and be thankful for everything
that's right with ourselves and the world. Marcia
Yudkin shares some tips fopr reducing stress and managing
the work day by respecting our natural, motivational rhythms.
Probing beyond physical boundaries, Anne
Irwin and columnist Carol
Heideman offer explanations for our circumstances in life,
and for the frantic energy surges many of us have felt in recent
weeks. Also, we introduce the theme of "technology
meets spirituality" with an overview of quantum mechanics
and its mystical implications for society in the near future.
These articles and much more have been assembled for your
reading pleasure. We hope you will find them enjoyable, thought-provoking,
and, in some cases, perhaps a bit unsettling. Sometimes you have
to rock the boat a little to slip away from impediments that lie
beneath the surface. In closing, please support our advertisers
(they make earthlight! possible) and send us a note or
some email to let us know what you like and don't like.
Warmly,
