Publisher's Note

December 1996 / January 1997

Welcome to the pages of earthlight! We serve a growing community of individuals and businesses working to promote peace, health, and happiness. For our second issue, we have nearly doubled circulation (to 10,000 copies) and extended distribution north, east, and south. This a journey of growth and discovery, and we are thrilled to have you with us.

During this holiday season, we all share an opportunity to create more balance and harmony in our lives. Seek moderation in the things that you do. Try not to over-spend this year, refrain from eating too much, and watch how much you drink. Take time to enjoy a few hours of peace and quiet. If you have a family, sit close together and dream for a while. If you don't, pick up the phone and arrange to spend a few hours at a local soup kitchen. The rewards of time well spent await each of us, and have little to do with spending money or rushing from place to place.

In this issue, we present an intriguing interview with John and Jan Price, authors of several books about spiritual and material reality. Their research has revealed common threads in wisdom literature throughout the ages. Surprisingly, the same techniques for creating harmony and abundance are being taught today, and the practice is deceptively simple. Alan Cohen also writes about abundance and attentive living in his new column From the Heart.

We explore new paths to health with an introduction to flower essences by Judy Springer. Helene Brenner and Laurence Letich explain an important new mind-body technique called Focusing. In the science department, we discuss Earth-friendly heating and cooling systems for the home, and continue our series on the spiritual aspects of the quantum.

All of these articles, and much more, have been blended and crafted together with kind intentions. We hope you find pleasure and inspiration in these pages, as well as joy and abundance in the new year.

Warmly,

Guy McCarthy
